   SAFARI + VICTORIA FALLS  

Day 1

You will be met at Cape Town Airport and transferred to your hotel in this beautiful city, within sight of Table Mountain.

Check in and relax in your magnificent surroundings.

 

Day 2

Today is free for independent sightseeing in Cape Town.

We recommend you purchase a day pass onboard the convenient Hop-Off Bus, which stops at all Cape Town’s key sights and beaches. The "Red Route" bus stops at the Table Mountain base station, where you can buy a ticket to ascend by cable car and enjoy one of the world’s most famous views. Continue to Camps Bay beach and the many attractions of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

 

Day 3

Today we recommend an optional full day tour to the beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve peninsula, where you may see see baboons, ostrich and perhaps even dolphins or whales in season (July/November).

Your tour travels through Hout Bay and along spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive (when open) to the Cape Point, returning via Simons Town, Fish Hoek, Constantia and Kirstenbosch Gardens. This is a scenic tour of the whole Cape Peninsula, with the optional opportunity of visiting the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

 

Day 4

Today we recommend an optional full day tour to the renowned Stellenbosch Winelands, travelling through the scenic Franschhoek Valley where a handful of French Huguenot refugees started South Africa’s now famous wine industry.Explore the historic university town of Stellenbosch and several wine estates on this famous wine route, which stretched from Paarl through to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Enjoy a cellar tour and some wine tasting, before returning to Cape Town in the late afternoon.

 

Day 5

Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your onward flight.

 

You will be met at Mpumalanga Airport and transferred 2.5-hours to your game lodge in the world famous Kruger National Park.

After checking in, enjoy a thrilling game drive in an open-top vehicle accompanied by a lodge ranger. Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast wildlife wilderness. Hopefully you will see several species of antelope, zebra, wildebeest and maybe even giraffe - as well as several of the Big Five - before dining under the stars in the atmosphere that only the African bushveld can provide.

 

Day 6

Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day, as you enjoy an open-top game viewing drive in the world famous Kruger National Park. Explore this vast 2-million hectare game sanctuary that is the size of Wales, offering magnificent game viewing opportunities and the highest concentration of lion in the whole of Africa. Hope to see several of the Big Five today - Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino - as well as many other species before returning to your lodge for breakfast.

The rest of the morning is free to relax by the swimming pool or enjoy bird watching at the lodge, before setting out again in the late afternoon for another game drive. With nearly 150 different species of mammals and over 100 species of reptiles in the Kruger National Park, you can hope to see cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, sable antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs and many other interesting animals. With over 500 different bird species including eagles, kingfishers, vultures and storks, outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed.

After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way as you have never seen them before – as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.

Day 7

After a final early morning game drive in the Kruger National Park, transfer 2-hours to your hotel on the scenic Panorama Route. There are many activities available in this region, including the elephant sanctuary in Hazyview and the chimpanzee sanctuary in Nelspruit. Also day tours of the Panorama Route, several golf courses and many beautiful walks, with outstanding bird watching.

 

Day 8

Transfer to Mpumalanga Airport for your onward flight.

 

You will be met at Victoria Falls Airport, Zimbabwe and transferred to your hotel on the banks of the Zambezi River, near the mighty Victoria Falls.

Check in, settle in and relax whilst you catch your first glimpses of the magnificent Smoke That Thunders first discovered by Dr. David Livingstone and still one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The flow of water over the Victoria Falls is greatest from February to June following the summer rains, but they are a magnificent sight at any time of year.

 

Day 9

Today we recommend an optional tour to explore on foot the mighty Victoria Falls, which offers magnificent views. Afterwards you participate in one of many local optional activities such as a helicopter flight over the falls or an elephant-back safari, or simply relax by the swimming pool and enjoy the facilities of your hotel. In the late afternoon we recommend an optional Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi Riverwhere you may see hippos, crocodiles and abundant bird life.

Note: we suggest you take your own raincoat for walking in the rain forest, as those on hire are often well used.

 

Day 10

At leisure to explore the small town of Victoria Falls or relax on the banks of the mightyZambezi River.

Adrenalin seekers can participate in many adventure activities such as canoeing in the gentler rapids above the falls, abseiling or white water rafting in the turbulent gorge below the falls (grade 5), or watch bungi jumping from Victoria Falls Bridge!

 

Day 11

Transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight home.
