This tour gives you time to immerse yourself in traditional Cambodian life with a prolonged stay on Koh Trong Island (King’s Island), giving you the opportunity to see how real day-to-day life is lived.

 

From here, you will pass the rolling hills of Mondulkiri in the northeast with stops to see the Irrawaddy dolphins in Kampi. You will enjoy lunch at a local coffee plantation before spending time with the local Phnong people over a starlight BBQ and rice wine.

 

The adventure gets even better with elephant trekking and a trip to explore the pre-Angkorian temples at Sambor Prei Kukthat, which date back to the 6th century.

 

Finally, you’ll venture into the main archaeological site in Siem Reap and be wowed by the sheer size of the vast temple complex and the crowning glory of Angkor Wat.

 

 

Day 1: Depart from the UK

Our scheduled flight leaves London for Cambodia with a change of aircraft in Vietnam.

 

 

Day 2: Arrive in Siem Reap

A staff member will greet you at the airport in Siem Reap and then bring you to your hotel. In the evening, we will take you to the FCC (Foreign Correspondents Club) for a happy hour drink followed by a welcome dinner.

 

Day 3: Floating Villages Tour

This morning we visit Kampong Phluk, this is an example of one of the many communities living in the floating villages of Cambodia. You will also visit the flooded forest before a brief Tonle Sap tour. After the tour we will return you to your hotel where you can enjoy free time.

 

Day 4: Siem Reap to Kratie

We journey to Kratie, stopping in Kompong Cham for lunch on the riverfront. We will continue to pass through the old river port of Chhlong, home to some wonderful French colonial architecture. We then catch a local ferry across to the Island of Koh Trong.

 

Day 5: Koh Trong Island& Irrawaddy Dolphins

Today we visit the dolphin pool of Kampi, home to the rare Irrawaddy dolphin. Boarding a traditional fishing boat we venture into the deep pools to see the Irrawaddy dolphin in their natural surroundings. Following this we visit the nearby hilltop pagoda at Sambok Mountain, stop for lunch in town before crossing back to Koh Trong Island where you have the afternoon to immerse yourself in to traditional island life.

 

Day 6: Kratie to Sen Monorom

Today we cross back to the main land, leave Kratie behind us as we go in search of Cambodian Wildlife in Sen Monorom. Once we arrive we enjoy lunch of savoury pancakes and coffee at the local coffee plantation. We will then transfer you to your hotel where you can relax for the rest of the day.

 

Day 7: Cambodian Elephant Trekking

We travel to a traditional local village to meet our guide and elephant. You then ride on your elephant through the countryside, rivers and into the jungle. After lunch you have the amazing opportunity to swim and help wash your elephant. For the evening you enjoy a BBQ dinner with your local Phnong family. Here you are treated to a fabulous insight into Cambodian culture and a truly magical evening.

 

Day 8: Sen Monorom to Phnom Penh

We leave behind the wilds of the North East and head on the long journey to the busy capital Phnom Penh. We stop for lunch and at Skuon, affectionately known as ‘Spiderville’, where it is possible to sample the local delicacy of deep fried tarantula. Once in the capital we recommend that you visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda.

 

Day 9: S-21 & Killing Fields & Cyclo Tour

Phnom Penh

This morning we visit the infamous Toul Sleng museum (S-21) before moving on to the killing fields of Choeung Ek. We return to town for lunch before an afternoon city tour Southeast Asian style with a Phnom Penh cyclo tour through the city where you will see all the main sights.

 

Day 10: Phnom Penh to Kampong Thom

Today we leave Cambodia’s capital and travel north to Kampong Thom where you can relax by the pool or take a lazy stroll or cycle along the Mekong River. 

 

Day 11: Sambor Prei Kuk

Siem Reap

Today we visit the beautiful 6th century sandstone temple of Sambor Prei Kuk. After our visit we sit down to enjoy a picnic lunch provided by the locals before travelling back to Siem Reap.

 

Day 12: Angkor Temples

Siem Reap

The Angkor temples are a magnificent sight! Angkor Wat temple is by far the most famous and often compared to sites such as Machu Picchu (Peru) and Petra (Jordan) it’s definitely a must see. Your guide will be on hand to tell you the stories and history of these magnificent Angkor temples. In the evening, you will see the incredible Cambodian circus before dinner in town.

 

Day 13: Free Day

Siem Reap

Today you are free to enjoy the last day of your holiday as you wish. Your local guide will be able to give you lots of ideas. In the evening we will join together for one last time to sit down to enjoy a farewell dinner.

 

Day 14: Depart Siem Reap

Siem Reap

Today you are free to enjoy your last morning in Cambodia before we take you to the airport for your departing flight home via Vietnam.
