8 DAY SABAH ROUNDTRIP

DAY 01

Arrival at Kota Kinabalu and transfer to Shangri La’s Tanjung Aru Resort.

Check in and free at leisure.

DAY 02

Breakfast at the resort. Check out and depart your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, for a 2-hour drive along the ridges of the Crocker  range, to arrive at the Kinabalu Park. Join in the guided walk along one of the forest trails to get a first hand impression of the Park and its unique flora before visiting the Mountain Garden with its collection of orchids and plants that are unique to Kinabalu. Watch a slide show on the natural wonders of the park after lunch. In the afternoon, after the slide show, explore more of the forest in the park. After tour, transfer to your hotel outside the park and check in. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 03

Breakfast at the resort. Check out. Transfer overland on a 5-6 hours drive to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rainforest habitats. Late afternoon take a river cruise (approximately 2 hours, -depending on weather conditions and animal sightings) using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate species. Sukau is home to Borneo pygmy elephants, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbill in Borneo. Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank and slide show conducted by naturalist guide. After dinner an optional night safari cruise (at a surcharge) spotting nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds. Overnight at the award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, named by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 jungle lodges in the world.

DAY 04

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. A 0600hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife (approximately 2 hours). After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour on the Hornbill Boardwalk located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife (approximately 2 hours).

Day 05

0830 hrs. Depart overland for the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 1000hrs. Visit the nearby Sunbear Project and observe this endangered tree dwelling animal from a closer range. Transfer to Sandakan Airport.

Arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport and transfer to Shangri La’s Rasa Ria Resort. Check in and free at leisure.

Day 06-07

Breakfast and free at leisure at the resort.

Day 08

Breakfast at the resort. Check out and free at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

Note: Standard check out time is 1200 hrs.
