Day 01: Arrival

Private arrival transfer to your hotel.

Overnight at Grano de Oro hotel

Converted from a tropical Victorian mansion, Grano de Oro Hotel maintains the warmth and comfort of a private home. Hallways lined with period photographs and original art meander through the building and present lush tropical flower arrangements and luxuriant plants at every turn. The hotel has 45 rooms in three categories: standard, superior and deluxe, as well as three signature suites and excellent restaurant.

 

Day 02: San José – Pacuare Lodge

Breakfast at the hotel.

7:00 am: Early morning pick‐up at the hotel lobby. Transportation service (approximately two and a half hours) to Pacuare river put‐in.

Exciting one and a half hour river rafting tour to the Pacuare Lodge (class II‐III rapids), where you will enjoy a two‐night stay at this Costa Rica's premier eco‐lodge.

Arrival to the Pacuare Lodge between 12:00 – 1:00 pm.

After lunch, you can take an optional canopy tour (not included in package price), the waterfall hike, or simply relax in your private bungalow.

Dine on gourmet delicacies by candlelight and then visit the upstairs lounge for a cocktail or refreshment before leaving to a restful night's sleep.

Overnight at Pacuare Lodge

In the Caribbean region of Costa Rica, there is a protected zone of incomparable beauty that begins near the town of Siquirres and covers approximately 25,000 acres as it descends down the Talamanca Mountain Range. Deep inside this protected zone, perched on the banks of its enchanting Pacuare River, lies the singular Pacuare Lodge.

You can arrive to the lodge either by river or by land, or a combination of the two. Arrival by river takes you along scenic class III rapids, and departure by river allows you to experience the magnificence of this zone's canyons and primary rainforest, via class III and IV rapids.You may also plan your arrival by ground transportation through impressive scenery and cross the river on a hanging gondola. A departure by ground transportation is also available, providing an alternative for families and others guests who prefer dry land, or would like to avoid the more challenging rapids.

The lodge offers nineteen bungalows of different categories: Linda Vista Suites, Honneymoon Suites, River‐view Suites, Garden‐view bungalows and Jungle‐view bungalows. Each bungalow was built with special attention to the hillside's topography and are equipped with solar heated shower, private terrace and hardwood flooring; some of these bungalows have a private deck with a pool. In addition, the main building features a restaurant, an open kitchen and a cozy lounge bar. Many optional activities and tours such as the Canopy Adventure Tour, a visit to the Cabecar indian comunity, a day‐break walk or a massage treatments are also avalaible. The Pacuare Lodge's philosophy is a simplistic luxury and oneness with nature. One important thing to know... there is no electricity in the lodge. All packages include transportation, river rafting, bilingual guides, gourmet meals and lodging.

 

Day 03: Pacuare

Wake up to bird song and the soothing sound of the river nearby. Then head over to the main lodge for a delicious breakfast.

Day at leisure to enjoy Pacuare area, take optional tours, stay and take advantage of the facilities of the hotel.

Day 04: Pacuare ‐ Tortuguero

Breakfast at Pacuare Lodge. You will leave your hotel very early on a shared ground transfer to Caño Blanco dock. Visit a banana processing and packaging plant and learn more about one of Costa Rica's prime product (subject to availability). Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to Caño Blanco pier and let this extraordinary exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero canals. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a delicious lunch as you arrive to the hotel. After lunch, visit to Tortuguero picturesque town and to the green turtle information center. Dinner included at the hotel.

Day 05: Tortuguero

After breakfast, explore Tortuguero National Park in small, open boats to allow better visibility and an even closer look to the flora and fauna. Two different section of the national park are visited during the day.

Day 06: Tortuguero – Cocles Beach, Caribean Coast

After breakfast, shared boat transfer back to Caño Blanco pier and then private bus to Puerto Viejo Beach.

Day 07: Cocles Beach

Day at leisure to enjoy the beach, to bike through the town of Puerto Viejo, or simply to stay and enjoy the hotel.

Day 08: One day tour to Veragua Rainforest Reserve

Breakfast at the hotel. One day visit to Veragua Rainforest Private Reserve. The tour includes interactive live exhibits of butterflies, snakes, and frogs in an unparalleled setting, walking trails, an open air gondola ride through the rainforest canopy, a spectacular waterfall, and a real research station where you can watch scientists discovering new species. Transfers and lunch included.

Day 09: Caribean Coast ‐ International Airport
