DAY 01

Arrival at Kuching International airport. Meet and transfer to Kuching Hilton. Rest of the day free at own leisure.

PM. Depart for Kuching City tour (3 hours). It’s the best introduction tour that will give you an overall idea about Borneo as Kuching is the ideal gateway to this Mystical Land of Hidden Paradise. The tour will give you a recap of the history starting before and after the White Rajah Era. Frequent stops are made at some of the most photographed sites for you to bring back some lasting memory of this beautiful Cat City. By the end of this tour, you will definitely be impress by this Old but Modern and green city. Rest of the day free at own leisure.

DAY 02

After an early breakfast, check out from your hotel. Depart to the Semenggok Orang

Utan Rehabilitation Centre. The entire facility occupies an area of 740 acres, the only

remaining green belt near the city which acts as a sanctuary for Orang Utans.

The main attraction is undeniably the Rehabilitation Centre, a temporary home for displaced Orang Utans that have been rescued from captivity and young orphaned primates. These animals are trained or re-trained to survive in their natural habitat. They learn how to forage for natural food and build nests in the trees. Many have been returned into the surrounding area. However there are few that will never re-learn their natural skills due to long association with and dependence on humans. There are daily scheduled feeding times. Sightings of these primates during feeding times are not guaranteed.

From here we depart for a 04 hours journey to Batang Ai. Along the way, we will pass by paddy/ rice fields, pepper plantations, local villages before stopping for lunch at the tiny little town of Lachau. On arrival at the Batang Ai Dam, you will be ferried across to the resort. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 03

After breakfast at the hotel, depart from Batang Ai Resort to the jetty and transfer by van to Lemanak River to board native longboats and venture upstream to reach an Iban Longhouse. The Ibans will perform a traditional war dance in full ceremonial regalia to welcome you. Enjoy a traditional and cultural exchange with the Ibans and their families. You will be awed by the communal lifestyle they share in the longhouse. Native lunch by the banks of the Lemanak River (subject to weather condition). Transfer back to Kuching.

DAY 04

After breakfast, depart on the early flight to Mulu, via Miri.

 

Mulu National Park is the home to the largest cave passage in the world and a paradise for naturalists. Mulu Park is known to have 1500 species of flowering plants, 170 species of wild orchids and 67 species of animals (sighting of animals is not guaranteed). Upon arrival in Mulu, transfer to Royal Mulu Resort, check in. Lunch outside the resort. After lunch, depart to the Park’s headquarter and from there take the 3km raised plan walk to explore the Deer and Lang Caves. This interesting walk will take you through the peat swamp forest, and if weather permits, be mesmerized by a natural phenomenon at the mouth of the cave in the late evening.

DAY 05

Take a boat ride (30-40 minutes) to reach Wind Cave with a stopover at the Penan Longhouse. After exploration of that cave, take a 10 minutes walk to Clearwater Cave. Followed by, climb the 200 steps up to the entrance and explore Clearwater Cave. Picnic lunch at the Clearwater Spring. Transfer to airport for your flight to Miri for your next connecting flight. 

 

Arrival at Sandakan Airport and transfer to the Four Points Sheraton. Check in and free at leisure.

DAY 06

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out.

0830 hrs. Depart for the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 1000hrs. Visit the nearby Sunbear Project and observe this endangered tree dwelling animal from a closer range. Transfer to Sandakan jetty (approximately 10 minutes drive) for 2½ hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rainforest habitats. Late afternoon take a river cruise (approximately 2 hours, -depending on weather conditions and animal sightings) using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate species. Sukau is home to Borneo pygmy elephants, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbill in Borneo. Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank and slide show conducted by naturalist guide. After dinner an optional night safari cruise (at a surcharge) spotting nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds. Overnight at the award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, named by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 jungle lodges in the world.

DAY 07

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. A 0600hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife (approximately 2 hours). After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour on the Hornbill Boardwalk located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife (approximately 2 hours).

Day 08

Breakfast at the lodge. Check out. Proceed overland to Lahad Datu (175KM). Upon arrival at Lahad Datu, register at Borneo Rainforest Lodge’s office.

Note: All guests visiting Danum Valley are required to sign a letter of indemnity.

Depart Lahad Datu for Danum Valley. Upon arrival, -check in at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge, followed by a guided nature walk up to the Canopy Walkway. Spend the rest of the day free at leisure. In the evening, after dinner (if the weather permits), go night spotting in an open roof vehicle for some of the larger mammals of Borneo.

Day 09

Breakfast at the Lodge.

09:00 hrs. Breakfast, trek in Borneo's prime rainforest. This is one of the oldest rainforests in the world and the sheer magnificence of it will keep you in awe as you trek along its trails, swim in its rock pools and get a bird's eye view of the forest from the canopied suspension bridge. Return to the Lodge for lunch. Trek up to the “Coffin Cliff” to discover an ancient Kadazandusun burial site. Proceed on to the “view point” for a bird’s eye view of the area. Descend to the “Jacuzzi Pool”. Return to the Lodge for lunch. Spend the rest of the day free at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in twin bedded Chalets with attached bathroom. Depending on the weather conditions there will be a night walk in search for wildlife.

Day 10

Breakfast at the Lodge. Check out and depart for Lahad Datu’s Airport.

Arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport and transfer to Shangri La’s Rasa Ria Resort. Check in and free at leisure.

Day 11

Breakfast and free at leisure at the resort.

Breakfast at the resort. Check out and free at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
